State Lawmakers: More Choices Mean Lower Costs for Contact Lenses

As contact lens wearers, we understand the importance of being able to shop around for contact lenses and glasses to find prices that suit our budgets. Far too many families are struggling financially and depend on the ability to find the best price so they won’t have to sacrifice groceries, school supplies, or a timely car payment.

Unfortunately, some consumers are not aware that they’re supposed to automatically receive their prescription, allowing them to purchase contact lenses from the vendor of their choice.

In 2004, Congress enacted the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act to foster consumer choice and spur competition among contact lens sellers. The idea is simple; more choices, lower costs.
